The first pipe made by Italian pipe maker Francesco Ganci was made of olive wood. While he describes the process as "kind of like a game," his passion for artisanal craftsmanship stems from the musical instruments he created in the Airenti and Lowenberger lutherie workshops. Indeed, he still crafts his pipes, now known as Pipe Ganci, in these workshops today. For Francesco, the first and most important step is choosing the material. That's why he prefers Italian Mimmo Romeo briar and premium German Sem ebonite for his pipes. Having personally chosen Mimmo as his source, Francesco Ganci says this has given him the opportunity to meet and work with many renowned international pipe makers. He primarily shapes his innovative and dynamic designs with hand-carved knives and files.
