Artem Shcherbak, a young Ukrainian pipe maker, was born in Kiev in 1975. Like many pipe makers, he initially was just a smoker before being drawn to briar and decided to make his own. For Shcherbak, who made his first pipe in 2010, pipe making became more than a hobby, becoming a passion. He gifted his first pipes to friends and began making more, eventually becoming his primary profession. Artem enjoys experimenting with different engineering systems and materials when crafting his pipes. He uses Italian briar, olive wood, and sometimes Morta wood. For his mouthpieces, he always opts for German ebonite.
